Generator Storage Tips

The best way to store a generator long term, is to drain ALL the fuel from the tank AND the carburetor. Running it until it quits is not good enough. The carburetor MUST be drained completely. Siphon ALL fuel from the fuel tank. Leave it open until it is bone dry. If the carburetor HAS a drain screw, open it and leave it open for about an hour, then close it. And you’re done. If your carburetor DOES NOT have a drain screw, it must be removed from the unit. The bowl must be removed and dried out. Some carburetors must be turned upside down in order to reassemble them. Store in a dry place and your generator should be ready next time you need it!
